Historic Rose Garden
Welcome to Cemetery Rose
The Historic Rose Garden is dedicated to the preservation of California's heritage roses. It contains nearly 500 antique and old garden roses with particular emphasis on those roses found in abandoned sites, homesteads, cemeteries, and roadsides throughout northern California.
In addition to preserving these, part of California's botanical heritage, volunteers provide opportunities for the public to learn about these beautiful and important plants. Classes and tours on the history and development of roses, rose care and preservation are conducted throughout the year, culminating in an Open Garden event each spring during which potted cuttings are offered for sale. The sale benefits in two ways; proceeds go toward the maintenance of this award-winning garden and the roses are grown in gardens around the world.
