Yesterday's windstorm brought down several small branches throughout the cemetery. One oak tree on Laburnum (Near Ivy - middle of Rose Garden) has a branch resting on an electric line overhead. The City has been notified and will clean it up, but be careful in that area meantime. Watch overhead for broken, hanging branches. |

A Pruning Clinic will be held Saturday December 5 and we will officially begin winter pruning of reblooming roses. If you plan to visit and prune on your own, please see Anita for assignments. We target specific roses each year for heavy or light pruning. Roses to be pruned at the January Pruning Invitational will have ribbons tied on them We also recommend carrying cell phones or visiting in pairs or teams. The ground is rough and a fall could be problematic. The large elm tree at Ivy & Laburnam (middle of Rose Garden) has dropped limbs in all seasons. Be alert and do not park under that tree. Remember to move vehicles off the roads when parking inside the Cemetery or park near the 9th Street entrance (usually closed). It is important to keep roadways clear for large trucks and emergency vehicles. Thank you. |
| November 14, 2009 | Cemetery will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to staffing/budget cuts. Rose Garden volunteers agreed to change work days to Tuesday and Saturday mornings. |
| November 14, 2009 | Irrigation timers are installed and volunteers will no longer have to visit daily during the summer to turn on the water. Irrigation Team (headed by Kathryn) will schedule timers as seasons and weather change. |
